Options to Consider When Buying Mobile Home Insurance

When a mobile home is your castle, you may discover more insurance issues than you would with a traditional home. You are going to want to insure your mobile home just as thoroughly and carefully as if it were a brick and mortar one. After all, it is your home and it holds all of your precious possessions. Virtually all mobile home insurance plans will cover fire, hail damage, wind damage, burglary and vandalism. Most insurance policies also cover other buildings on the same land as your mobile home, such as sheds and garages.
And just like insurance on a traditional home, you are most likely going to want insurance for things like liability, in case someone is injured on your property. One injury that takes place on your property can financially ruin you if someone is severely injured or killed.
Of course, you will want to shop around for insurance. You may not, however, want to choose an insurance company simply because they offer the lowest premium quote. You need to take a good look at the different coverage offered by different companies. A slightly higher premium might mean much more coverage than the lower one, and may save you money in the long run. You are going to want to get the most comprehensive coverage you can possibly afford.
Also consider how much you want the policy deductable to be. While it is very true that a higher deductable means lower premiums, you do not want to take a deductable that is so high that you might not be able to come up with it if you need to make a claim. If damage occurs to your home you want to be able to get it fixed right away and not have to wait until you have saved up enough money to pay your deductable.
Because it is possible to move a manufactured home from one location to another, it is important to note that the regular insurance that you get to cover your home while it is sitting on a piece of land does not cover the home while it is being moved. If you are going to move your home you need to contact your insurance company well in advance of the move and arrange for the special insurance it will require to cover the home when it is being moved.
It is always a good idea to talk to an insurance agent before you buy a policy. You want to choose a company that offers customer service that is helpful and courteous. If a company representative is rude when you are shopping for insurance, imagine what the company will be like when you need to make a claim.
